Peppermint essential oil is an incredible effective oil when it comes to treating a variety of ailments. Not only does peppermint smell great, but it can help relieve pain and sickness from a small scale to a large scale. This post from Hannah details various uses for peppermint essential oil so that you can be equipped to use it for your own health and for the health of your family!
“One of the most common essential oils to use around your home is peppermint. It is incredibly versatile and powerful. One of it’s greatest properties is that it acts as an analgesic which means it’s a painkiller!
A couple weeks ago my little boy was stung on the ankle by a wasp when he was playing outside. I immediately placed 1 drop of peppermint oil undiluted directly on his ankle. The pain went away quickly and my little guy went back to playing within a few minutes. Within a couple hours there was no sign of a sting! There was no red spot with the white circle around it, nothing. His skin looked totally normal.
When I am able to use essential oils on a daily basis and see the powerful healing properties of them it definitely makes me happy. There are plenty of ways to use peppermint oil so lets look at some other specific and practical uses.
- Upset Tummy: Place 1 drop in water and drink, place a couple drops in a diffuser and diffuse in to the air, or inhale directly from bottle. Don’t touch your nose to the bottle because it can sting a bit as peppermint oil is strong!
- Fever: I’ve used peppermint oil successfully for a fever on my children as well. Just place 1 drop undiluted on each foot and rub it in. You can cover their feet with socks once it dries if you are worried about the smell.”
