“Superfoods” are foods that boost your health and are beneficial for trimming your body. The bonus? These foods are tasty and are easy to incorporate into your diet. Cynthia’s list of nine awesome superfoods will fill you in on why these specific foods are so good for you.
“Who doesn’t want to eat delicious food that slims and trims your body while boosting your health?
Here are 9 of my favorites:
1. Blueberries
Blueberries are packed with antioxidants and phytoflavinoids (compounds that protect our body from stress). What’s cool is that phytoflavinoids have been shown through several studies to have pharma cologic gastro-protective properties, and have been reported to act as antisecretory, anti-diarrheal, antiulcer, and antioxidant agents. Wowza!
And, because they are anti-inflammatory, they are also great at protecting your body against many chronic diseases!
2. Potatoes
A recent study found that potatoes lower blood pressure in people with hypertension and obesity without increasing weight! That’s great news for all of us potato lovers! And, just one medium potato contains as much dietary fiber as five and a half bananas and even more vitamin C than three avocados.
Finally, new research also shows that potatoes contain more of the mineral selenium than the average child gets from their daily consumption of seeds and nuts. Selenium is an essential mineral that works as an antioxidant, especially when combined with vitamin E, and helps to fight damaging particles in the body known as free radicals. You know, the destructive fellas that make your body susceptible to disease and premature aging.
3. Broccoli
Did you know that per serving, broccoli has over 50% of the recommended daily intake for vitamin C and potassium, which helps maintain a healthy nervous system and optimal brain function? It also promotes regular muscle growth and repair.
In addition, broccoli contains phytonutrients that help the body eliminate more toxic compounds and free radicals to help you boost weight loss. If that wasn’t enough, just one cup of broccoli bolsters the immune system with an extremely large dose of beta carotene.”
