Does anyone else get an automatic image of their grandmother’s house when thinking about homemade biscuits? I absolutely loved biscuits growing up, and no one made them quite like grandma. As a kid, I would always east the soft insides of the biscuit first, then dive into the crispy outer layers. It was a process over which I took much care. My family enjoyed biscuits in all their forms: with gravy, with sausage as a breakfast sandwich, topped with butter, honey, and jam, and simply on their own. The inviting warmth of a freshly baked biscuit can break all sorts of ice and help everyone around your table, whether family or guest, feel comforted and welcome. Now, even though we stick to a real food diet, we still enjoy biscuits from time to time. Made with coconut flour, they are still warm with soft insides and crispy outsides an make a perfect pairing to any topping. My husband is particular fond of slathering his coconut flour biscuits with a healthy helping of almond butter topped with sliced banana.
